What
are your favorite musical artists and what is it about them that you like?I have lots.
Bon Jovi--cool lyrics and some killer intros
John Denver--grew up w/ his music, which reminds me of Colorado
James Galway--same as John Denver
Spiderbait--they are really versatile etc.

I don't really have one but for the sake of
argument I'll say Depeche Mode and they have longevity as artists...they have carried me
through many years, many moods, and many a long roadtrip as a highschool athlete.

Enya for the emotions the music evokes. The
Academy of St. Martin's in the Field for the for the purity of sound of the music they
produce.

I love INCUBUS, staind, limp bizkit,
disturbed...i like the music/beat...and the lyrics can be really touching and sensitive if
you read into them and actually think about them. they make a lot of sense w/ everyday
life.

No particular artist at the moment.
But I am currently playing the soundtrack to "O, Brother Where Art Thou?" a lot.
Am recently obsessed with a film version of Jesus
Christ Superstar based on the London revival production. My old standbys of baroque and
early Renaissance tracks are on the standby.

I like k.d. lang a lot because I like the
way she sings, and I think she's incredibly hot. I like the Murmurs' CD Blender because
the music is bubblegummy but the lyrics are snarly. I like the Beatles...well, don't
really remember why, I just have for years. I like Lords of Acid's CD Voodoo-U.
Ummm...can't remember what else is in my car CD case.

The Ramones (RIP Joey) who had an obvious
enjoyment of what they were doing and lots of energy. I also liked the pre-Illusion Guns
& Roses. Once Axl went opera rock it was over.
Alias Irrelevante
I have many favorites. Billy Joel (he writes
good pop music which in this day and age is an oxymoron), They Might Be giants for their
sheer quirkiness, Elton John (same reason as Billy Joel).

Easy: Guns N Roses and Janis Joplin are my
favorites...because I like them.

I tend to remember songs more than singers.
I don't have "favorites"--many, many tunes drift in and out of the forefront of
my mind.

My
favorite musical artists... it changes...
I tend to like artists that are clever or
present interesting ideas in their music. I enjoy Talking Heads, They Might Be Giants,
Bare Naked Ladies (but they've been lame lately), Eddie from Ohio.

I like... hmm... Splender, 311, and a bunch
of DJs who spin trance. I like Splender because their lyrics kinda describe me, 311
because they can pump out some really awesome electric guitar solos, and the DJs because
they give me a chance to think about myself and untangle all the junk in my head.

goo goo dolls and matchbox20-I would
have to say those are my favorites because they sing about things I can relate to-and they
write their own music which is sooo rare these days.

I don't have a favorite artist, I love music
too much to just pick one! I guess if I had to pick one of my favorites though it would be
Billy Corgan. Even through the direction the Smashing Pumpkins took in the last couple of
years wasn't exactly my favorite, the man is a brilliant lyricist/guitar player. The
Smashing Pumpkins always had their unique sound, there is no mistaking their music. And
Billy was the brains behind that band for sure.

My favorite music genre is 30s and 40s Big
Band and jazz, but as for today's music, I really enjoy listening to U2. There's something
about Bono's voice that makes him very distinctive...and I just love most of the lyrics.
In the 70s I was 100% dedicated to the Eagles, pretty much for the same reason (Henley).
But my all-time favorite female vocalist is Joni Mitchell; quality in voice, excellence in
lyrics, musically intelligent.

My favorite artists are Country artists
George Strait and Randy Travis. I like their voice (especially Randy's deep voice), their
choice of music (both are 'traditionalists'), their looks (both are handsome), and their
lifestyles (both are happily married; George is a cowboy and excels in cattle-roping and
riding, Randy lifts weights, plays pools, raises horses, and makes movies. Both are
clean-cut men who don't drink much

I like Madonna, Dianna Ross, Barbara
Streissand, Michael Jackson, Jackson Five, Aha, Styx,
RuPaul, Cher, Judy Garland, Abba, Buggles, Bob Marley, Belinda Carlisle, Cyndi Lauper,
Tiffany, Beach Boys, Billy Joel, Paul Simon, Fugees, Frank Sinatra, Savage Garden, Spice
Girls, Louis Armstrong, Dexy's Midnight Runners, Save Ferris, Queen, Phil Collins, Shania
Twain, Mama Cass, and the Mamas and Papas. I'm sure I probably left at least a few out. I
like each artist/group for different reasons, but it's mostly because I like either the tune or the lyrics or both.

I like Bruce Springsteen. And Ani Difranco.
And Bob Dylan. I guess I find them to be easy to relate to, on some level... and I think
all three of them are wonderful songwriters...

Placebo, because the music has a style all
of it's own and the lyrics can be read in all manner of ways. Music means a lot to me and
I could go on for hours trying to explain, but music makes people feel different and i
like that.

No Doubt is my favorite group. I like ska
music because it is very up-beat and it makes me in a good mood :)

I love Juliana Hatfield deeply. . . She
expresses all the strength and vulnerabilities I feel way too intensely, with just the
right twist of crazy manic and depressive shots to get me through any long cold night. .

My favourite band ever is Nine Inch
Nails - every album is a complete and utter mindfuck, with the most memorable songs I've
ever heard. I adore NIN, I cannot express how much I
admire Trent Reznor.
Other favourites are:
Industrial - Marilyn Manson, Bauhaus, Skinny
Puppy, Rammstein. All three have written some of the most thought provoking, yet
accessible and enjoyable music ever. I particularly enjoy the latter because they sing in
German, and it wouldn't work if they sang the same songs in English.
Thrash Metal - Slayer, Megadeth, Napalm Death. Intense songs, superb solos, you get the
drift. They're just three great bands on the whole.
Death Metal - Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse. Morbid Angel write extremely heavy but
memorable hooks, whilst Cannibal Corpse are a great and intense aural experience.
Rock - Feeder, My Vitriol. A great live experience and brilliant, pop-rock
classics-in-the-making adorn each of their albums.
Rap Metal - One Minute Silence, Rage Against the Machine. I prefer the former because of
their chunkier riffs and their music has more substance, but the latter combined some
memorable hooks with important social issues to good effect.
Punk - Sex Pistols, Operation Ivy, Amen. Three legendary bands, and the latter are
especially popular in England and are a great live experience. As for the other two, I
just like the records.
Goth Metal - Lacuna Coil, Type O Negative, Kill II This, Paradise Lost. The former write
the most gorgeous music I've ever heard. Every household needs a Lacuna Coil record. The
second band are pretty much ubiquitous, whilst the latter two are British and relatively
new. They write about interesting topics with great, dramatic riffs.
Black Metal - Thorns, Dimmu Borgir, Cradle of Filth. Every time I hear an album by any of
these three bands, I get blown away completely. They're three incredible bands and I never
get bored with their albums.
Pop - Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears. Everyone needs some bubblegum

'Weird
Al' Yankovic - He's just FUNNY!
Billy Joel - A master songwriter.
Elton John - He can make want to dance or become reflective.
Phil Collins - All his songs have a great beat.

My favorite bands include our lady peace
(more their older cds like clumsy and naveed, i'm not a big fan of spiritual machines),
less than jake, rancid, and nirvana. i love the energy and the thought they put in their
music. i especially love the sound of the singers' voices - it's more the sound and tone
of their voice that i like rather than what they're saying. my favorite types of music are
punk and alternative, however, my number one favorite band is hanson. i hate to admit it
but i'm a closet hanson fan. i don't know what it is about them that i like so much since
they don't have a lot of the qualities that any other of the bands i listen to have but
i've stuck with them since april of 1997.
