you ever get very tired and drowsy at work or school and what, if anything,do you do about
I EVER. I try to eat candy, hold my breath, go for a walk, or take a nap.
Beverly Hills, CA USA put my head down between calls (tech support call center) drink soda nap after work Firelady, 23
Dallas, TX USA I'm always tired in the first three periods and then in 6th, but I can't really do much about it except yawn or try to sleep through class... lol... Jeremy, 14
Highlands Ranch, CO USA Yup! It happened last Thursday before the break. The other teachers in my room and I were all very tired so we got one thing done and then popped in a video for the kiddies. Now don't get me wrong, that's not something I do every time I'm tired at work. I usually go grab a caffeinated drink and chug it down!! Tracy, 24
Ocean City, NJ USA I commute to work on a train, so I usually dose off in the morning and totally crash on the way home. I have yet to miss my stop but that is my fear. Janet, 42
E. Brunswick, NJ USA Frequently. Sometimes i go into the bathroom lean against the stall wall to drowse for a bit. Usually i just drink a caffienated soda. Talia, 23
Wilton, CT USA I used to be a security guard and the answer then was simple: sleep. Luckily my current job has enough minor annoyances to keep me awake long after I've punched out. Alias Irrelevante Occasionally, and I have coffee, tea or a coke for the caffeine. Jane, 60
West Linn, OR USA I take prescription medication called Zyprexa for Bipolar disorder, and it makes me very sleepy at work & school. Normally I just have to 'deal with it' and go on. I try to get as much sleep as possible during the night and on the weekends when I'm not at work or school. Melodi, 19
Gahanna, OH USA yes-and i just go to sleep. Angela, 16
Aiken SC USA When I'm terribly sleepy in the afternoon, I've either missed a great deal of sleep the night before or I'm coming down with a bug of some sort. One of the perks of just-a-housewife is that I can take a nap. Jill, 60
Saylorsburg, PA USA Not frequently, but I get something to drink. Doesn't matter what - usually it's soda - and it doesn't need to have caffeine, but somehow just having something to drink helps me keep active enough to stay awake. etoile, 20
Washington, DC USA It depends on the day. I work alone, so if I'm very tired, I just go home and sleep. Or I get a cup of coffee or a coke. Or I find something more interesting to do. Laura, 36
Lowell, MA USA I am usually tired during the day because I haven't eaten. A bit of protien usually solves that problem. When I'm tired for other reasons, I have to fight every ounce of myself not to curl up under my desk. Felicia, 35
Lowell, MA USA Yes. I cannot fall asleep before midnight but I must get up for school at 6. I am incredibly tired for most of the day, but I can't sleep in class-it's not comfortable enough-and I always have to much homework to do when I get home. Sometimes, when I have no money to buy lunch I lay across the seat of my car and catch a nap.
Look forward to my break time so that I can go outdoors and have a smoke. This perks me up. Go ahead, you can all start bashing me anytime now. I'm quite used to it and rather appreciate the pure entertainment value.
Yes I do, every day around two, two thirty in the afternoon. There isn't much you can do once you feel that way. I have been drinking more water because they say that that is a huge reason why people get groggy, dehydration. And it seems to be helping out a lot. That and going to bed at nine at night so I can get a full eight hours of sleep in. Even though it sucks to go to bed that early, it pays off during the day when I don't fall into a coma during the afternoon.
I tend to nowadays. In the week before school broke up, I fell asleep in 5 different classes. They were five boring classes, but still. I should probably go to bed earlier if I want to stop.
I still get sleepy in class sometimes, but it's pretty rare. I try to get into bed at a decent hour, and I get up at the same time every day to go to work or class. I think it must help my body to know that I'll let it rest in good time.
YES I CAN GET VERY TIRED AND DROWSY AT WORK OR AT HOME IN THE AFTERNOON. IF AT WORK I TRY TO DRINK COFFEE OR CAPPUICINO (THOUGH I DON'T LIKE THE CALORIES) OR I GET UP AND WALK AROUND AND MAYBE A FEW LITTLE EXERCISE TO GET MOVING AGAIN.
take a nap.
Well, luckily I have a job that is quite slow paced. If I do get sleepy at my job, I am allowed to take a quick cat nap if it means I will be more prepared later that day. I love my job!
The best solution is to get more sleep. That usually works for me. But sometimes no matter how rested I am, boredom creeps in and I find myself nodding. I used to just lay my head on my desk for about 5 mins. and then I'd be OK but I now sit in a cubicle located in the hall and my boss has told us "No sleeping on the job." So I keep a pack of Vivarin in my desk and when I start seeing double, I take half of one.
Los Angeles, CA USA Stay home and sleep in. You've gotta get to the root of the problem, man. A-Dog, 18
