What
language would you learn if you could learn a language overnight?Probably one of the
oriental languages since they speak from a very different mindset than the occidental
world listens to.
Jill, 60

I'm LOUSY at languages but if I could learn
one it would be French. My husband is a French expert and I'd love to be able to
converse with him.

Italian. That's my favorite country! I used
to sell lots of Italian wines when I was a sales rep for a fine wine distributor. I've
been to Italy twice and hope to go back next spring or summer with my husband!
Susan, 32
Chicago, IL

Some really difficult language.
Probably something ancient like Aramaic. You could get
a pretty good job with a second language like Aramaic. They'd let you tag along on
digs in the middle east so when they found something with words on it, you could tell them
what it means. Yeah, somebody send me some Aramaic learning tapes. Good idea, guys.
A-Dog, 18

Italian. I have a lot of friends from Italy
and they are always after me to learn Italian.

I'd learn Italian. I know some
Spanish, but I love the way Italian flows from people's mouths, because it's so musical
and melodious.

I would learn French...I am currently taking
French in school and I'm in my second year, but I just think it's a beautiful language and
I wish that I could speak it fluently right now.

Spanish. Boring, maybe, but
practical...

Anjel, 20
Spanish...it's so helpful in today's world!

Chinese or Japanese. I think learning an
ideographically based language would help in understanding a totally different mind set.
Jane, 60
West Linn, OR
USA
Spanish because it would be extremely useful
living where I do. There is a pretty large Spanish speaking population in the Northern
Illinois area, and it would be nice to be able to communicate with my neighbors and people
I work with that speak only Spanish, and it would be a good advantage to have in my job
hunt.
Maggie, 20
Sandwich, IL
USA
I would learn American Sign
Language.
Eric, 19
Beverly Hills, CA USA
German.
Fisch, 45

Japanese. Japan is the most fascinating
country in the world and my one goal in life is to become fluent in Japanese.

French. When my grandparents were growing up
it was in a part of town called 'Little Canada.' It would also help with the Kerouac stuff
(I just became the Secretary of Lowell Celebrates Kerouac).
Alias Irrelevante
German... I'm planning on taking it in high
school.
Jeremy, 13
Highlands Ranch, CO USA
Polish. I'm of Polish descent and

Also Russian, just because that's a cool language.
Karen2, 15

Irish Gaelic.
Kim, 30

China will have a great impact on the 21st
Century. 70% of China speaks some form of Mandarin while the other 30% speaks some form of
Cantonese. 70% of one billion people is alot of folks. Therefore in answer to the
question, I would like to learn Mandarin.
Then I would learn Japanese, followed by
Korean.
Did you know that there are more people in
Asia that speak English than there are here in the US!
Rich, 52
